I've helped many many people about all sort of WoWMimic issues, and I would be happy to help whoever needs something after you have searched the forums first.
I'd prefer you AIM me at: coreysch14@gmail.com.
So my main acc is under my real name, I have a toon that i would like to use for botting so i would transfer him to a new account that would also be under my name. now would that jepordize my main account at all?
This is covered in the FAQ of this guide, but no, it will not jeopardize your account. You can also use a VPN, as Myron suggested, to make it easier to recover your account in the chance you are banned.
I have been using the same name on my botting accounts as I do on my main account for years. It is easier that way if you do not get reported a lot as a bot (which you shoudnt) but keep in mind, it can increase your chances of losing your account if a GM looks into it.
In a banwave, Blizzard just presses a button that bans any and all accounts that Warden has found to be using 3PPs. If you are reported by a player because your account is acting bot like, GMs can look into logs to see what you are doing. Keep that in mind. I outline a lot of ways to avoid being caught if you check this guide thoroughly.
Great guide and thank for the info. This post probably just saved my main from getting banned.
Greagt guide and threads. So if I'm reading everything correctly I should set up a seperate bot account but I canuse my real name (i'm planning to transfer leveled toons b/w accounts). I'll have both accounts set up with gametime cards and i'll also be using a VPN on both accounts. Several things though. If I start using a VPN on an existing account (main acct), won't Blizzard make me authenticate the account? Also if the VPN changes won't Blizz make me autheticate the acct? Also any additional tips or tricks of the trade would be GREATLY appreciated by a newbie wanna'be botter. Thanks
junkintrunk, just use a vpn or something for your new account. I would make the new account under a different name if you haven't already made one. To not jepordize your main acc, you can change your ip. This is hack0si's personal vpn that he uses. Vpn

Excellent thread. Would have saved my main. All good though, things are moving forward quite well at the moment, thanks to the gold-making power of Silverbolt.
I have a nice clean laundry set up now, and keep everything of value stored in the guildbank, and only those things I'm prepared to lose on any of the members of the botting account. The biggest thing I worry about is my glyphbank, since the botted account has the master inscriptionist, Tradeskillsmaster won't work right if I send it all off to an alt on a different account, so I have roughly 50k worth of glyphs that I wouldn't like to lose, but I would survive.
As long as you wait an hour or two (at least), Blizz won't make you change your password when you drastically change IPs. I had a recurring problem before I realized that my wifi at school was using a VPN through the main campus, 6 hours away. I kept having to change my password. This type of "lockout" is easily fixed, and isn't a big deal IMO, but if you wait a few hours after switching "locations" you shouldn't have any trouble. If you're making a major move (different country) you might want to give it a day, but I'm not sure what the exact timeframe is.
Mule 1 would be on your main account, yes.
A GM could make that association but generally will not ban on those grounds because it is not easy to prove that both accounts are you, even if accessed through the same IP (which you wont be doing because of the VPN)
As for the leveling of the toon, you can always put the new account under the same last name as your main account, level the toon with BoA and RaF and then xfer it to the botting account. Thats how I do it.
No, it will not have any association in Blizzard's eyes to your friends account. If you want to make sure though, try to keep the majority of your communication in Vent and just don't trade him anything. Those are really the only two things that blizzard traces other than mail and the AH. Combat logs as well.
That being said, I have done what you are speaking of doing more times than I can probably count and not been caught outside of a banwave yet.
are there any specifics you can provide on how to set up VPN specifically for wow?... especially if you have multiple accounts. i have my main account of course and i have 2 new accounts that i plan grinding to 85 i want to bot them both at the same time.
thnx
